Why Clients Love UsDr. Guy A. Cheek established our Brunswick animal hospital with a clear vision: exceptional veterinary care should never come at the expense of personal connection and compassion. Our mission centers on the belief that every pet deserves individualized attention from experienced professionals who understand the bond between animals and their families. As your dedicated veterinarian, we bring together Veterinary Medicine with accessible communication to help pet owners feel confident and informed about their companions’ healthcare decisions. Our veterinary clinic operates on the principle that quality animal hospital services extend beyond medical treatment to encompass education, prevention, and emotional support for families navigating their pets’ health journeys. Through our comprehensive veterinary services, we strive to enhance and extend the lives of beloved pets throughout Brunswick and Southeast Georgia.
Choosing the right animal hospital Brunswick families can depend on means finding a practice that truly understands your pet’s needs and your family’s concerns. Our veterinarians’ decades of experience, combined with modern facilities and genuine care, sets us apart from other veterinary clinics in the area.
Dr. Guy A. Cheek’s journey began with a simple dream: bringing exceptional veterinary care back to his Brunswick hometown. After earning his veterinary degree from the University of Georgia in 1990, he opened our doors in April 1994 with a commitment that “Special Friends Deserve Special Care.” What started as a one-man practice has blossomed into a thriving medical center housing four veterinarians and fifteen dedicated team members.
Each veterinarian brings a unique story to our practice. Dr. Shanna Ramsey returned to Brunswick after honing her emergency skills in Jacksonville’s fast-paced veterinary hospitals, while Dr. Jordan Fry chose to stay local after completing his education at Lincoln Memorial University, specializing in the surgical and internal medicine cases he’s passionate about. Our newest addition, Dr. Kylee Capece, traveled from California to Ohio for veterinary school and brings a fascinating marine biology perspective from her University of Hawaii studies. Behind the scenes, Laura anchors our technical operations—remarkably, she’s been our board-certified technician since we opened thirty years ago, while Toni has managed our daily operations since 2009. When Dr. Cheek isn’t treating patients, you’ll find him fishing Georgia’s coastal waters or tending to his own horses, dogs, and cats, experiences that deepen his understanding of the bonds we share with our animal companions.
Your pet’s future wellbeing depends on the choices you make today. Preventive health care forms the foundation of a long, healthy life for your furry family member. Our veterinarian understands that preventing illness costs far less than treating disease later.
Our complete approach addresses every stage of your pet’s life. From pediatric care for young pets to specialized senior consultations, we tailor our preventive health care services to meet their changing needs. Regular wellness visits help us catch potential problems before they become serious health concerns.
Smart pet parents choose preventive care because it delivers remarkable advantages. Your pet enjoys a better quality of life when we monitor their health regularly. Our veterinarian creates customized wellness plans based on whether your companion is in pediatric, adult, middle-aged, or senior life stages.
Preventive health care saves money over time by avoiding expensive emergency treatments. Early detection means simpler, more affordable solutions. Your peace of mind improves knowing we’re watching over your companion’s health every step of the way.
We focus on keeping your pet healthy rather than just treating sickness. Our proactive preventive health care approach includes microchipping for permanent identification and regular health assessments. This targeted strategy helps us recommend the most effective prevention methods for your specific pet.
At Cheek to Cheek Hospital for Animals, we make wellness convenient with day admissions. Drop off your pet between 7:30AM and 10:00AM, then pick them up between 3:00PM and 5:30PM Monday through Friday.
When your pet faces a health crisis requiring surgical intervention, we provide comprehensive surgery solutions across multiple specialties. From routine spays and neuters to complex orthopedic repairs, our surgical team addresses each case with precision and care.
Our veterinarians handle soft tissue procedures like skin tumor removal, lacerations, fight wounds, and abscess treatment that demand immediate attention. Our surgery capabilities extend to specialized procedures including mastectomy, vulvoplasty, stenotic nares correction, and soft-palate resection for breathing-related conditions.
Quality surgery creates lasting results that improve your pet’s life for years to come. We focus on orthopedic techniques like fracture repair with bone plating and anterior cruciate repair that restore mobility. Our approach includes dedicated pain management protocols that keep your companion comfortable throughout recovery.
Proper surgical care prevents future complications and health issues. We perform ear and eye surgeries with attention to detail that optimizes function. Supporting services like blood transfusions, hospitalization, and our isolation ward help pets recover safely under professional supervision.
Our surgical capabilities include complex procedures that address serious internal conditions. We perform intestinal blockage resection and biopsy when pets swallow foreign objects. Emergency procedures like splenectomy and cystotomy handle internal organ complications that require immediate intervention.
At Cheek to Cheek Hospital for Animals, our veterinarians combine advanced Surgery techniques with compassionate care. Our orthopedic expertise includes amputation procedures when limb-saving options aren’t viable, providing pain relief for pets with severe injuries or cancer.
Many pet owners think internal medicine only involves emergencies or critical care situations. This common misconception prevents pets from getting proper diagnosis and treatment for chronic conditions that develop slowly over time. Our veterinarians specialize in complex medical conditions affecting your pet’s internal organs and body systems.
Our internal medicine expertise covers pain prevention and management for arthritis, back pain, and hip dysplasia conditions. We also handle metabolic diseases including liver diseases, kidney diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, and pancreatic diseases that require ongoing medical attention and specialized care.
Smart pet owners use preventive internal medicine care to catch endocrine diseases before they become life-threatening. Regular health monitoring helps us identify early signs of diabetes, Cushing’s disease, Addison’s disease, hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism that might go unnoticed during routine visits.
We focus on preventing complications from heart diseases through proper management and treatment protocols. Early intervention for conditions like heartworms, cardiomyopathy, and heart murmurs can dramatically improve your pet’s quality of life and prevent progression to congestive heart failure.
When your pet faces serious health challenges, general veterinary care might not address the root causes of complex medical problems. Our internal medicine approach tackles difficult diagnoses that affect multiple organ systems simultaneously.
At Cheek to Cheek Hospital for Animals, our veterinarians handle cases involving heart diseases like congestive heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias. Metabolic conditions affecting liver, kidney, gastrointestinal, and pancreatic function need expert internal medicine attention that goes beyond basic treatment protocols.
